TEANECK FLOWER DELIVERY
AU Florist sits at 790 Main Street in Hackensack just across the river from Teaneck. Any Teaneck address: 10-20 minutes via Cedar Lane Bridge or Route 4.
Every morning at 5 AM, Rob drives to the wholesale flower markets. He handpicks roses, tulips, lilies, and whatever's freshest that day. By 7 AM, those flowers are back at the shop in buckets, hydrated and ready. His lead designer, here for 25 years, transforms them into arrangements that regularly draw "oh my god, that's beautiful" from customers.
Your flowers travel 3 miles, not 30. Same day, not three days later in a cardboard box.
About Teaneck
Teaneck Township stretches 6.24 square miles across Bergen County, home to 41,246 residents. The Hackensack River forms Teaneck's western boundary and our shop sits just across that river in Hackensack, accessible via Cedar Lane Bridge and Route 4.
Cedar Lane runs north-south through Teaneck as the vibrant commercial heart of shops, kosher restaurants, professional offices, synagogues nearby. Teaneck Road serves as the municipal center, housing Township Hall at 818 Teaneck Road and the main civic corridor. The CSX railroad tracks bisect Teaneck north-south, creating east and west sections.
Route 4 bisects the township east-west through the southern section. Unlike most Route 4 corridors packed with commercial development, Teaneck preserved the Route 4 Greenbelt which is the open space that gives the township breathing room.
Teaneck Public Schools operate 8 schools: Teaneck High School, two middle schools (Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson), and five elementary schools (Nathaniel Hawthorne, James Russell Lowell, John Greenleaf Whittier, Bryant, and Theodora Smiley Lacey). That's over 3,487 students and 305+ teachers across the district!
Fairleigh Dickinson University's Metropolitan Campus straddles the Hackensack-Teaneck border. Holy Name Hospital provides major medical services within Teaneck.
Our Promise: Fresh, Local, On Time
We're 2-4 miles from Teaneck via Cedar Lane Bridge (for west Teaneck) or Route 4 (for central and east Teaneck). That proximity matters. Your flowers don't sit in delivery vans for hours.
Rob's 5 AM market routine hasn't changed in decades. He knows which wholesalers have the best roses, where to find hard-to-source flowers, who to call when a customer requests iris in late fall (even though they're impossible to find and prices doubled). Back at the shop, stems get cut, buckets get filled, everything prepped for the designer who's been here 25 years.
Small weddings keep us busy year-round. Other shops demand $5,000 minimums. We don't. We make what you need without the requirements. We don't think twice about smaller celebrations.
Valentine's Day and Mother's Day turn the shop into controlled chaos. Rob's entire family shows up! Ten people are arranging, wrapping, and loading vans. Exhausting days. Everyone comes back next year because those are the days that matter.

Why Teaneck Families Choose Us
A family came in crying years ago. Their friend's wedding bouquet from another florist looked terrible. Rob and his designer added roses, cascading orchids, and rebuilt the whole thing. The family never went anywhere else after that.
Rob won't sell yesterday's flowers. When customers point to older stems in the cooler, he steers them to that morning's delivery instead. Some florists would take the sale. Rob won't compromise.
Teaneck Moments That Bloom
- May brings Teacher Appreciation Week to all eight Teaneck public schools. Parents send arrangements to teachers' classrooms all week. Some coordinate through PTA for group arrangements. Others send individual thank-you plants. Over 305 teachers across the district receive recognition.
- June means graduations. Teaneck High School graduates 1,261 seniors annually&mdashmassive floral demand for graduation parties, family celebrations, and graduate gifts. Moving-up ceremonies at Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson middle schools mark eighth graders' transition to high school. Elementary school promotion ceremonies celebrate students advancing to the next grade.
- Spring and fall mark Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah season for Teaneck's Jewish families. The religious ceremony happens Saturday morning at synagogue. Families then host celebrations Saturday evening or Sunday. Arrangements decorate party spaces. Thank-you flowers get sent to grandparents, family members who traveled, and those who helped prepare for the celebration.
- Jewish holidays throughout the year bring floral needs. Rosh Hashanah (September/October) means arrangements for holiday tables. Hanukkah (December) brings blue, white, and silver color schemes for the eight-day Festival of Lights. Passover (spring) sees pre-Pesach arrangements for Seder tables. Purim (late winter/early spring) occasions festive celebration flowers. Shavuot (late spring) traditionally features white flowers and greenery.

- Teaneck International Film Festival at Teaneck Cinemas brings opening night flowers, filmmaker recognition arrangements, and VIP reception décor.
- Late May brings Teaneck's Veterans Day ceremony at the Municipal Green. Memorial wreaths and patriotic arrangements honor veterans and fallen service members.
- Valentine's Day and Mother's Day spike demand. Red roses dominate Valentine's orders and many go to Teaneck homes and apartments. Mother's Day brings mixed spring arrangements, orchid plants, and rose bouquets in every color. Orders by noon weekdays (11 AM Saturday) deliver the same day.
About AU Florist
Rob never planned to become a florist. In the early 1980s, working in the spirits industry, a friend's flower shop needed help. Rob started with basics, driving, cleaning, and organizing. Then the designer called out sick. Orders piling up. Boss panicking.
"I could do that," Rob offered. The boss handed him a knife hopefully. The dozen roses Rob arranged exceeded everyone's expectations. Two years of training followed. ThenRob opened his own shop!
Walk through our doors at 790 Main Street and you enter something unexpected. Over 100 paintings and photographs transform the walls including R.C. Gorman pieces, a 1944 Polish painting from Rob's grandmother, vintage 1920s magazines featuring Rita Hayworth and Judy Garland, works by Xavier Gonzalez (whose pieces hang in the Museum of Modern Art), even something Rob made in fifth grade.
Customers sit in chairs scattered around, taking it in while we create their arrangements.
5 AM alarm. Every morning. Rob drives to wholesale markets, handpicks flowers, returns by 7 AM. The designer who's been here 25 years knows Rob's standards. When customers see arrangements in the cooler, they stop and stare. That's not by accident.
Rob's philosophy? "I make arrangements like I'm making them for my family." After almost 40 years of treating Teaneck and neighboring communities that way, customers have become exactly that, they're family.
4.9-star Google rating reflects that. "After 40 years in business, I've learned what really matters&mdashtreating people right and creating beautiful arrangements," Rob says.
